Would you be willing to accept tips on getting the right camo/gear? I do not want to sound like asshole.

You don't, no worries! At the time (Jan '09), I was using mostly what I already had 'cause I was pretty broke and couldn't get anything more accurate. It took most of my money just to obtain the materials to make the harness, haha.

What I have now is much more complete, even more so than the most recent pictures I've posted. Admittedly, those are fairly old themselves...

The camo I have is accurate, but one gets it when they "defeat the Duel Mode Special section with all high scores". ([link] <- there's a screencap from the site I quoted, in case you want to see, not because I'm an asshat.)

Nevertheless, I am totally up for hearing your tips! I welcome and appreciate them greatly, honestly.

Sorry for long comment... and for any typos, grammar errors, etc. I'm rewriting this really quick before I have to leave since I had already typed this out when Chrome crashed.... bluh. But, yes! I look forward to them!

The camo you are using really looks like M81 Woodland, not DPM. A lot of people use M81 because it's all they have/could find but there are lots of places to find better looking ones/more noticeable ones. Tiger Stripe is very popular, as is choco chip. Not many people do Olive Drab or Splitter (hard to find,m or doesn't even exist in BDU's) or Desert Tiger (hard to find as well). the Leaf pattern looks a lot like M81 as well, but it is more lighter. I almost want to say its ERDL. Also under armor works best for the black shit he wears under his camo.

DPM is the pattern, not the colors but in MGS3 it really makes DPM look like M81, which is strange to me. [link] That is what DPM looks like.

But camo opinions aside, the gear is a big part. I see too many people make harnesses out of some funky modern parachute, but the best way is to actually buy a STABO harness ($600, out of the question lol). Making one is way way cheaper and easier. Find a place that sells black milsepc webbing and sew the STABO rig yourself. it looks so much better! As for the belt, it's a vietnam era black canvas pistol belt. pretty cheap ive seen most places sell them for $8-$12.

The pouches and ass pack are important too. The pouches on the front are M1956 M14 ammo pouches. You might want to get a 3rd one for a radio pouch because the one snake uses is very hard to find. The M1911A1 pistol holster can be found almost anywhere if you dont already have one. The buttpack is a standared vietnam era one. I use a nylon one for my MGS PW cosplay (that still need extensive work lol) but for an MGS3 one you might wanna stick with the standard GI canvas booty pack. as for the footwear go with Vietnam jungle boots. They can be pretty expensive but they're worth it. oh and also the canteen is a standard GI canvas OD canteen. should be easy to find.

I'd start making Otacon slash jokes here, but I don't think they'd work. So I'll be happy with, "Sorry, wrong Snake." X3
