The Third Force

Where do you think we go
After we pass
Where do we end up?

There are theories
And there are ideas
Of what happens to us

I think we might get thrown
To the brink of existence
To wander along the threshold
Of all we never knew
And all we've wanted to learn

What will we find out
As we stroll beside the end
What will we see beyond it
Or will we see past it at all

It must be beautiful
To see into forever
Farther than we would have
Ever thought we could

What forces will be enacted upon us
Will we get sucked across the divide
Into nothing or into everything
Or another place entirely

This push and pull we feel now
Must be nothing in the grand scheme
Grounded we are at the moment
Perfectly suited for the surface
That allows us to ponder
Everything we are
Might be
Are not

But it still leaves me to wonder
